I also think that the raw converter in PSP 9 is not as good as the one in Nikon Capture - for some reason when I open raw files in PSP, they simply do not look as sharp, and the colors are washed out (and this is not due to differences in the default color space). While there are some excellent PSP forums, they are harder to find, and the software company's web site is not particularly useful in my opinion. There are far more web sites and tutorials dedicated to Photoshop, although most of the tutorials are fairly applicable in PSP. First, it's generally harder to find online help and guidance. Like you, I simply could not justify the expenditure for Photoshop, I think that PSP 9 will do most if not all of the things "non-professionals" might require of a photo editing software.
